Joining

Tyneside Vagabonds Cycling Club (TVCC) uses the Spond platform for communication between members and to manage memberships.

We recommend that you download the Spond App on a Smart Phone (available, for free, for both iPhone and Android) to find out what is happening, advertise events and communicate with other members. [You can do much the same with Spond on a web browser, but you must use a laptop or desk top to do so, hence it is less available than the App.] You won’t see any TVCC information on the App, except the logo, until you have completed stage 4 (see below).

Memberships (stages 2 and 3 below) are managed by a separate on-line system (not the App) within the Spond platform which uses the same Spond user name and password, but must be accessed from a laptop or desktop.

Yes you can join TVCC without joining Spond. If that is your choice, jump to 2 below.

Joining TVCC is a four stage process: 1 Join Spond; 2 Sign-up; 3 Pay for Membership (you’ll be sent a link); 4 Use ODOUL to join TyneVags Spond group. 

In more detail:

  1. Join Spond, either via an App on your phone (preferred) or on-line.
  2. Click this link https://club.spond.com/landing/signup/tynesidevaga to access a Sign up screen where you will be asked to provide some personal data relevant to your membership. You can add family members (one adult and any minors) if you wish. Submitting the form alerts the membership secretary to your intention to join TVCC and generates a reply with the Membership link. [Minors: provision for Guardian is available within Spond, so a minor can be the member, but communication is via the Guardian. Select the Child option on the Sign-up screen to enrol a minor as a member. TVCC require a signed Parental Consent Form for any minor; obtainable from the Go-Ride team or the membership secretary. The TVCC Go-Ride group uses Spond.]
  3. The Membership link takes you to a screen where you can see the TVCC Membership types and fees (maximum fee £20). Use your Spond log-in to progress to payment. [You do not have to join Spond to be a member of TVCC. When you have selected your membership type, a choice screen will appear, so you can continue with, or without a Spond account]. 
  4. Go to the Spond App and use the code ODOUL to join the TyneVags Spond group. There may be a delay, whilst your membership is confirmed. [Minors will be allocated to a sub-group, restricted to minors and Go-Ride coaches.]

Note: TVCC does not provide insurance. We recommend that you obtain cycling insurance separately.
